Scott Castillo

Born in Eugene, Oregon, grew up chasing sun in Southern California, and eventually landed in South Florida — where I met Tony, my husband. We married in 2019, share three cats, and are held together by a very large, very loud extended family.

By day I lead aesthetic design at Serta Simmons Bedding — responsible for every textile, label, and surface detail that makes a mattress feel considered. Before that, I spent years in apparel, developing kids and womenswear that had to be both beautiful and honest to wear.

My instincts for design didn't come from school. They came from a sewing machine I got at age 8, and the runway shows I staged for my siblings in the living room. That kid is still running the operation.

Restoration

Built a '68 Mustang from bare metal

Not restored — built. Engine, electrical, every nut and bolt back to showroom condition from a shell. If I can design it, I can build it.

Home

Living in a 1962 time capsule

Currently restoring our 1962 home back to its original mod aesthetic. Living the vision rather than just sketching it.

Origins

Raised on a sewing machine

Got my first sewing machine at 8. Designed garments, staged runway shows for my siblings. Design wasn't a career choice — it was always just what I did.

Travel

Passport well-stamped

China, the UK, Turkey, Paris, Seoul, Mexico, and across the US. Collecting visual references and eating well along the way.

Life

Cat dad of three

Married to Tony since 2019. Born in Eugene, OR — my birthday lands on Thanksgiving every few years. I hate turkey and pumpkin pie.

Current — Head of Aesthetic Design

Serta Simmons Bedding

Leading the visual and material design of everything on the outside of a mattress — textiles, labels, trims, and surface treatments. Where industrial process meets tactile craft.

Prior — Product Development

Apparel Industry

Designed and developed kids and womenswear — from initial concept through production-ready execution. Trained to think about fit, fabric, and the body simultaneously.

Founder & Designer

Buck & Doll Designs

My passion project and truest creative home — a mid-century modern restoration company. Finding pieces with good bones and bringing them back to exactly what they were meant to be.

If you're working on something that deserves to look and feel exactly right, I'd like to hear about it.
